Dear Mark, can we make a documentary about you?
The journey begins, Edinburgh in the background, an intimate film on the creative daily life of Mark Cousins. Director, writer, film polymath, teacher but, more than anything, Mark.
Mark shows himself unfiltered, he lives his life in front of our camera, but he can’t help it, he must turn his camera on us.
The subject becomes the filmmaker. The filmmaker becomes the subject. Questions, answers, doubts, truths and lies.

This film is about a species of Bee (The Tree Bumble Bee - Bombus Hypnorum) that has recently migrated to Scotland from continental Europe.
I accidentally discovered a nest in my garden and became smitten with these fascinating little critters. I wanted to tell their (Tree Bumble Bees) story and show people they have nothing to fear. I spent approx. 60 hours filming the Bees, waiting patiently for the Queens to emerge and the mating season to begin.
The Film's goal is to charm and educate viewers, and to encourage people to cherish rather than fear these beautiful little critters.
There are a number of 'shorts' online about these Bees but (in my opinion) none show the macro details nor tell the story of their arrival in the UK and why they are so valuable to our society.

The main character of the film is a prototype of Jorge Luis Borges called Aleph, he is 120 years old and was born in a Library, which he has never left. He is looking for the perpetuation of the Library, which according to the legend can only happen after the Labyrinth is unlocked by a blind person. The Library, inhabited by the prototypes of Light, Time, Order, and Meaning, is a metaphor of the universe and the human intelligence. This world is opposed to the one outside the Library, remote from the values and depth of the books. A call from Pontius Illiteratus invites Aleph to appear at the Babylon Congress for "adjusting his values." Thus, Aleph encounters a tame society, an allegory of today’s, eaten by the destructive virus of the spectacle, erasing the critical perspective of its existence, floating in a superficial void. The encounter of two equally powerful characters and worlds represents a clash of values. As a result, Aleph, who is physically weaker, is blinded, but paradoxically, this gives him the right to unlock the Labyrinth.

What distant things are having an effect on us and what are we non-visibly affecting? The similarities between these connections are represented through overlapping images. It shows a change in perspective, going from the individual singular self, to a view where there is no divide between self and other. It brings us to a cosmic, all-encompassing view, divided in space and tied together through telephone wire.

Attempting to better understand her grandfather Avrom Sutzkever, Israeli actress Hadas Kalderon travels to Lithuania, using her grandfather’s diary to trace his early life in Vilna and his survival of the Holocaust. Sutzkever (1913–2010) was an acclaimed Yiddish poet—described by the New York Times as the “greatest poet of the Holocaust”—whose verse drew on his youth in Siberia and Vilna, his spiritual and material resistance during World War II, and his post-war life in the State of Israel. Kalderon, whose native language is Hebrew and must rely on translation of her grandfather’s work, is nevertheless determined to connect with what remains of the poet’s bygone world and confront the personal responsibility of preserving her grandfather’s literary legacy. Woven into the documentary are family home videos, newly recorded interviews, and archival recordings, including Sutzkever’s testimony at the Nuremberg Trial. Recitation of his poetry and personal reflections on resisting Nazi forces as a partisan fighter reveal how Sutzkever tried to make sense of the Holocaust and its aftermath. As Kalderon strives to reconstruct the stories told by her grandfather, the film examines the limits of language, geography, and time.
